Get Rid of Ants and Spiders Forever

We all like to enjoy camping and being in nature, but when ants and spiders appear in the areas where we stay, we have to do something.

What Spiders Don't Like

Chestnuts and walnuts

Some people say spiders do not like the smell of chestnuts and will avoid an area where chestnuts are placed. If you are in the woods, spread them around the tent and kitchen area. Walnuts are also said to have a similar effect, so it is worth trying.

Essential oil or vinegar spray

Eucalyptus, tea tree, or peppermint oil can help keep spiders away. Put water and ten to fifteen drops of essential oil into a spray bottle and shake well. Spray around your campsite. Vinegar can have a similar effect. Just do not overdo it, because that smell may also send your friends away.

Citrus fruits

Spiders do not like citrus scents, so lemon, orange, or grapefruit can help. Place pieces of citrus around your campsite and replace them every few days as the scent fades.

Cedar and tobacco

Tobacco is known to repel spiders, and the smell of cedar wood may also help drive them away. If you have the chance, bringing a piece of cedar back from a hike can be useful.

What Ants Run From

Cinnamon

The smell of cinnamon is not pleasant to insects, so ants often avoid it. Sprinkle some cinnamon or draw a line of cinnamon where ants are entering.

Natural spray

Mix water, a little liquid soap, and a few drops of lavender or camphor essential oil. Add some ground bay leaves, mint, or cloves, shake well, and apply the mixture where ants gather.

Lemon juice

Squeeze a lemon and apply the juice to the areas where ants are coming in. Ants do not tolerate the smell of lemon.

Cucumber peel

Cucumber peel is often used as a natural way to drive ants away. Place it in the spots where they gather.

Laurel

Ants do not like the smell of bay leaves either. Place them in the corners where ants gather.

Vinegar

You can apply vinegar directly to the surfaces where ants appear, or make a mixture of vinegar and detergent and use it in the holes they come through.

Baking soda and powdered sugar

Mix these two ingredients in equal proportions, then place the mixture in the areas where ants are most active.

Coffee

The smell of coffee can make ants change their habitat. Place ground coffee where the ants usually appear.
